About Darja

We met in 2020, at a reception desk. We both worked the front desk of the same facility, and we both had a key.

A place for two people who weren't allowed to go anywhere

It was Covid. There were no cafés, no cinemas, and no apartments you could just casually bring someone back to. So on weekends we went to the one place we already knew our way around. We unlocked our own workplace, sat down at the empty reception desk, and talked for hours, at the exact desk where, come Monday, we'd be booking appointments again.

On one of those evenings, I told her I loved her.

The fastest second act of my life

Two weeks later, I had Covid. One week after quarantine, we moved in together.

Today we're married and live with our cats Stefan and Sonja in Bernau, near Berlin. Darja is my greatest achievement. I know you're not really supposed to say that about a person, and I'm saying it anyway, because nothing on this website would have happened the way it did without her.

If I submitted this story as a screenplay, I'd get the same note from every script editor: not believable. And no, you can't be played by Matthias Schweighöfer.
